Part of the countdown form of tabloid series that started with “5,” “0” features the photographer Shingo Wakagi whose continued exploits span the fields of documentary, commercial, and art. The tabloid will be released in conjunction with “Shingo Wakagi XX Photo Exhibition,” which will be held at the Kamoe Art Center in the artist’s hometown of Hamamatsu on October 10, 2015.
Starting with the publication of the photo collection “Let’s go for a drive” in 1997, the artist has employed a documentary technique to create portraits that leave a deep impression on the user, such as his representative work “Takuji” that features photographs of his grandfather shot over the years, and “Eichan and Hirochan,” which is made up of photographs of the daily life of his childhood friends. The tabloid introduces the 17 different photo collections that the artist has published, and reveals a 20 year career centered around the action of “meeting and photographing.”
「５」からカウントダウン形式で発刊してきたタブロイドシリーズ「０」では、ドキュメンタリー、コマ―シャル、アートの垣根を飛び越え、幅広い活動を繰り広げている写真家、若木信吾をフィーチャーしました。若木の生まれ育った浜松市の鴨江アートセンターで、2015年10月10日（土）から開催される「若木信吾写真展XX」にあわせて刊行いたします。
1997年に出版された初めての作品集「Let’s go for a drive」以来、原点であり代表作となる自身の祖父を10年間撮り続けた「Takuji」、幼なじみの日常生活を撮影した「英ちゃん弘ちゃん」など、ドキュメンタリー的手法を駆使し、見る人に深い印象を残すポートレイトを発表してきました。
これまでに出版された17冊の作品集を紹介しながら、「出会っては撮る」ことで積み重ねてきた若木の20年のキャリアをひもときます。

写真家／映画監督。1971年3月26日静岡県浜松市生まれ。ニューヨーク州ロチェスター工科大学写真学科卒業。雑誌・広告・音楽媒体など幅広い分野で活動中。2004年から2009年まで雑誌「youngtree press」の編集・発行を手がける。2010年から故郷の浜松市に書店「BOOKS AND PRINTS」のオーナーもつとめる。
