This exhibition will focus on the images contained in the 400 copy, limited edition publication of Sawako (LibroArte), as well as present some previously unpublished photographs from that collection.
Kuroda’s Sawako series is a photographed and edited homage to the “porn mag” in which the photographer uses her personal friend as the model. In these images we see a young woman in a school or out on the street, openly exposing her raw body without any hesitation or softening in her expression. On the one hand, there is an element of the sort of cheap magazines found below the public radar and their stimulation of the innate lust of the male viewer, and on the other, it as though the images rise above those base expectations to express the original form of “woman,” and its undeniable attraction. Within the sexual and alluring form of this woman, we find an expression of the artist’s conception of an ideal form of feminine beauty.
Together with the exhibition, a 500 copy, limited new book consisting solely of previously unreleased images from Sawako will also be released. By exposing these new and unreleased photographs, we hope that you will be able to enjoy Sawako anew as both sexual object and as “ideal feminine form.”

本展は、2011年に400部限定で発表された写真集『沙和子』（LibroArte）にいまあらためて注目し、同写真集に収録されなかった未発表作品を含む作品15点を展示します。
本シリーズは、女性写真家が自らの友人をモデルに据え、いわゆる「エロ本」へのオマージュとして撮影、編集されたものになります。学校や何気ない街角で若い女子がためらいもなく、そして表情を緩めもせずにその生々しい肢体を露わにしていくこれらの写真には、いわゆる巷の猥褻でチープな雑誌が喚起せんとする、男性の根源的な欲求への過剰な挑発が込められている一方で、そうした俗な思惑を超えた女性本来の在り方や、そのものの抗い難い魅力が溢れています。これは、この写真家自身がこうした女性の肉感的かつ扇情的な姿に、ある種の女性美の理想的な在り方を見出しているからではないでしょうか。
本展にあわせ、展覧会図録を限定500部で刊行、同写真集には『沙和子』に収録されなかった未発表の写真作品のみが掲載されます。前作には収まり切らなかったいっそう多彩な姿を露わにしながら、性としての対象から「女」としての神々しさへとさらに突き抜けていく沙和子の姿を、ぜひご覧下さい。

まだ性に意識を持ち出したばかりの頃、道端に落ちているポルノ雑誌をドキドキしながらページを捲ってみた。表紙の写真からどういったものが写っているかは分かっていた。そこに写っている女を見て、私は子供ながらに身体が熱くなった。いけないものを見てしまった、という快感に近い罪悪感は、私の身体をより熱くさせた。白く切り抜かれた修正部は、まるで女の秘部が光っているかのように見え、世の中の男はこういった女の裸を見て興奮しているかと思うと、写真に写っている女がまるで女神のように見えた。女が絶対的な存在であると感じたのだ。その時の興奮は私の身体の中に燻り続け、未だその熱は冷める事を知らない。目の前にいる女-沙和子-は真っ白な肌に少し赤みがかった頬で私を挑発する。あの雑誌を開いたその時から、私も男達同様、甘く香しい女神に魅入られてしまったのかもしれない。
